UNION VISITATION TO THE HOSTELS TO KNOW THE STATE OF THE HOSTELS IN VIEW OF 2017 STUDENTS RESUMPTION.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL FUPRITES.
In order to ensure students comfort-ability on campus, The union under the leadership of Comr.Ozubu Blessing visited the four Hostels to know the state of the hostels prior to students resumption.
The Union wants to commend the effort made by management ably lead by our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akii Ibhadode, FAS in providing some of the needed facilities of the hotels as agreed by both the union and management before students vacation.
From our observation, The work done so far as at when the union visited includes;
1. Relocation of the fish pond and the stoppage of water diversion
2. Provision of three new 15 hp stand by generators basically to aid constant supply of water.
3. General Tiling of Ugbomoro Girls hostel
4. general fumigation.
5. General maintenance of hostel Diesel generator and general repair of lighting point and ceiling fans.
However, the Union strongly frown at the delay by management in attending to some of
the pressing challenges facing the general students at large.
Some of the needs are:
1. The delay in PHCN connection on Campus.
2. The delay in construction of the back gate leading to iterigbi community.
3. The inability of Management to complete the on going construction of students Residential Complex "Hostel" 2014 PRESIDENTIAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT PROJECT, Thereby forcing students to off campus residence. Management has indeed endangered students lives by their actions.
Conclusively, the union wants to reassure her members that this issues will be presented to management officially on resumption with an ultimatum base on their urgency and necessity.
